Free Appeal Resources

A practical checklist for building a strong, factual appeal record—without making things worse.

First 24 Hours (Do This Now)

1. Screenshot Everything

  • The exact disablement/restriction message
  • Any "reason" text the platform shows
  • The appeal confirmation screen (if you submit an appeal)

2. Write Down the Timeline

  • Date/time you first noticed the issue
  • What you were doing right before it happened (login, password reset, posting, etc.)

3. Secure Your Account (If Hacking Is Possible)

  • Change password (and email password)
  • Enable 2FA
  • Review recent logins/devices

4. Keep Messages Factual

  • Avoid threats, insults, or "I know a lawyer" language
  • Do not guess the reason—ask for clarification and a human review

First Week (Build a Credible Record)

Keep a simple log of every action you take:

Date → Action → Channel (in-app, email, portal) → Result → Reference ID
  • Save every email or auto-response you receive
  • Avoid submitting dozens of conflicting appeals (it can create noise). Keep one clean story.

Evidence Checklist (What to Collect)

  • Screenshot of the platform notice (exact wording)
  • Appeal confirmations or "case ID" if provided
  • Emails from the platform
  • Device/login history (if hacking suspected)
  • Proof you control the account (old screenshots, prior emails, prior login patterns)
  • If business-related: basic proof the account is used for business (website, receipts, invoices) — only if relevant

Messaging Do's and Don'ts

DO

  • Be brief and factual
  • Ask for "human review"
  • Request the exact policy/content basis for the action
  • State what you believe is incorrect, without guessing motives

DON'T

  • Threaten, insult, or spam
  • Invent dates or claim you were "approved" if you weren't
  • Admit wrongdoing you didn't do just to "say something"
  • Submit multiple inconsistent stories

Template Messages (Short and Safe)

Template 1 — Polite Escalation

"Hello, I'm requesting a human review of my account action. My account was [disabled/restricted] on [date]. I believe this may be an error and I would appreciate clarification on the specific policy or content basis for the decision. Thank you."

Template 2 — Hacked Account

"Hello, I believe my account may have been compromised. After securing my email/password and enabling 2FA, I'm requesting a human review of the enforcement action on my account. The action occurred on [date]. Please advise the policy/content basis and any steps needed to restore access."

Template 3 — Mistaken Enforcement

"Hello, I'm requesting a human review. The stated reason for the action doesn't match my activity. The action occurred on [date]. Please provide the specific policy/content basis and consider reinstatement if this was made in error."
